This Getting Started Guide will guide you through updating, attaching your Radions to your WXM and configuring them through Apex Fusion.  

  1. We need to make sure your Apex Firmware (FW) is up to date on your Apex

      1. To check the FW revision on your Apex, via your display screen Go to the "Self-Test"

      2. It must read at least revision 4.32_7A14.   If it does not then, please see here for instructions on how to update the FW

  2. After updating the FW on your Apex, next we need to update the FW on your WXM.
    1. First, make sure that the WXM is connected to your Aquabus and the status light on the WXM is green
    2. Next, on your display screen select Setup> Module Setup > Module Update> Select your WXM.  The status light will turn solid orange during the update, then back to solid green when complete

    3. Now we will update the EcoTech Marine part of the WXM module.  
      1. On your display screen select Setup > Module Setup> Config Module> Select your WXM> Select WXM RF Update

      2. This will take several minutes, after you see the downloading information completed (no further progression), press the center button and confirm the WXM RF Update is completed.  If it says FW Ok, then unplug your WXM module from the aquabus for the time being.

  3. This next step is if your Radions were made before Oct 2014 then please download and extract the EcoTech Connection Manager for your computer. 

    Note: Please download the Ecotech connection Manager from (If you are using the XR-15 or Gen-4, then skip ahead to attaching your Radion, Step 5)

    1. If you have a version of the connection manger already installed, please open it and select "switch account" to sign out of ESL.   Then close the connection manager.

    2. Next Download the most up to date Radion FW (1.7.8)  here

    3. Now Install the connection manger. 
      1. Be sure to overwrite your other connection manager and say "Yes to All"

      2. DO NOT Enter your ESL credentials during the installation

  4. Next we will update your Radion FW
    1. Connect your Radion Light to the USB port on your computer using the supplied cable from EcoTech Marine

    2. Now, click on the EcoTech Connection Manger Icon on your toolbar/taskbar.  Select USB Radion then Factory Reset.  Select "Yes" you are sure.

    3. After the light has been reset, now we will update the firmware.  
      1. Click on the EcoTech Connection Manger Icon on your toolbar/taskbar.  Select USB Radion then Firmware Update

      2. This will open a box that will allow you to select a FW file.  Press select and navigate to the 1.7.8 FW that you downloaded in step 3.3

        NOTE: If this is grayed out, then be sure to sign-out of your ESL account.

      3. Once you select the 1.7.8 FW the Radion FW update will begin.  It will take about 1-3 minutes

      4. When the firmware update is complete you will see this displayed image.  NOTE: If it says "failure" just allow the connection manger to restart your Radion.  Eventually it should come up and say complete.

      5. Disconnect the EcoTech Marine USB cable.  If you have additional Radions pleaserepeat this process outlined in Step 4.1- 4.4 for each of them.

  5. Now we will attach your Radions to your WXM module
    1. If you haven't already done so, please connect your WXM back to the aquabus
    2. On your display screen navigate to Setup> Module Setup> Config Module> Reset Radions.  After select "Reset Radions" you should see them flash on/off.  If you do not, select "Reset Radion" a couple more times

    3. In the WXM config menu, now select "Attach Radion."  Select this several times and the Radions will now be connected to your WXM.

  6. After the Radion(s) have been attached to the WXM module we can begin to configure them in Apex Fusion.
    1. Select your output configuration icon on your Apex Fusion dashboard.  If you have not connected your controller to Apex Fusion, then please see the Getting Started Guide for your controller.  

    2. Your Radion(s) will be listed in your output list and describes as a "Radion" outlet.  Select one of them.

    3. This will bring you to an image of graph (as seen below).
      1. On the X-Axis is time in a twenty-four hour scale
      2. On the Y-Axis is the overall Intensity of light output
      3. All point can be dragged and dropped from left to right (time) and up and down (intensity)

    4. Each point on the graph is a color spectrum the can be adjusted.  Between one point to the next the point the colors will automatically be blended for smooth transitions.
      1. You can select a pre-defined setting from the drop down menu

      2. It is also possible to make you own color spectrum and output.  To do this, simply select a point, then change the color settings at that point so it becomes "Custom."  Please note that final color output of a given color is equal to your total output intensity multiplied by your color intensity.  So an total output intensity of 50% and color intensity of 62% is equal to a "blue LED" output of 31% (.5 X .62 = .31).

      3. You can add, remove, adjust and preview each point on your graph as well.  The preview is a great option so you can fine tune the exact color spectrum and intensity in your configuration

      4. It is also possible to add the probability of cloud and lightning affects to a given point.

        1. Choosing the "Cloud Function" will randomly dim the light intensity down to 30% and to the pre-determined "Cloud Spectrum" from EcoTech Marine.
        2. Choosing the "Lightning Function" will cause the light to periodically flash and create a "Lightning Effect."  

        3. There are a couple of things to remember about the "Storm Effects"

          1. Clouds must be selected for Lightning to work
          2. It is not possible to increase or decrease the probability of storm effects once selected
          3. Notice how we have made the three points here very close together in time (13:26,13:52, & 14:22), this means that clouds will only happen happen randomly for about 30 mins, then clouds and lightning for only another 30 minutes.  This prevents the storming from occurring randomly throughout the entire day.
      5. Below is an example graph of how one might configure the Radion to promote good color and growth.  In this example, we keep the light at an overall max intensity of 50% we stay mostly blue in the morning and evening, and punch an hour of growth spectrum (10K &14K ) in the middle of the day:

      6. We now will need to rename and set the fallback setting for your Radion.

        1. Rename the Radion something meaningful to you (IE Radion_Left)
        2. We recommend the fallback state to be "off".  This is what the light will do if the WXM were to ever loose communication with your Apex System (ie unplugged cable).  Typically it would be better for a light to be "off" indefinitely rather then "on" indefinitely. 
        3. To make these settings change select the Cog in your toolbar, rename the outlet, set the fallback and select OK

      7. When you are satisfied with your Radion's configuration, update it to your Apex and Apex Fusion.

      8. After updating the Radion configuration, it's a great opportunity to preview your entire Radion program and how it will operate over the 24 hours. This preview will be complete in 20 seconds

    5. If you have additional Radion lights, then it is easy to copy the configuration of the Radion we just programmed.  

      1. To do this, select the an unconfigured Radion outlet form your output list (see step 6.2 above).  
      2. The Radion Wizard Graph will open.  Now select the copy button.

      3. Select your other Radion outlet to copy the configuration from

      4. This will immediately populate the settings you programmed in "Radion Left" to your other Radion outlet. Update the outlet name as we described in steps 6.6.1 through 6.6.3 and update the Radion as we did in step 6.7.

This completes your EcoTech Marine Radion programming.
